What is in Kangen Water™?

What is in Kangen Water™?

I get this question all the time…

‘Hey Martin… What is in Kangen Water?’

And people expect me to give them a list of the amount of different minerals that are found within it.

But I can’t… and anyone who says that they can are lying. (Bold statement, I know)

But the truth is that unless they have tested that exact water, then they are unable to tell you what is in the water.

This is the unique thing about Kangen Water™!

You see, ‘Kangen Water™’ itself isn’t uniform… It relies heavily on the source water that enters the Enagic® ionizer and what will be ‘in’ the Kangen Water produced, is largely determined by what is ‘in’ the source water.

If you have been testing water for a little while you will have noticed that the pH and ORP readings of Kangen Water™ can change between locations and even just houses; and it is all because of the source water.

Kangen Water™ is the name given to water that has passed through an Enagic® water ionizer and undergone the process of electrolysis. Electrolysis is a process of using an electrical charge to cause a chemical reaction in the water… but it doesn’t make all the water the same.

‘Town’ water is water that is ‘controlled’... normally by the government. If you have ever had a look at the number of chemicals that are legally able to be added to your water for a range of reasons, then you will know what I mean. I’m not going to get into the details here but if you’d like more information just have a look at the ‘Australian Drinking Water Guidelines’. For those who think ‘water is just water’... then why does there need to be a 1178 page document around it?… but I digress.

You then look at rainwater, bore water, well water… almost any other possible ‘source water’ for Kangen Water™ that the government hasn’t touched… and you will find a huge range of variations there as well. What is actually in these water sources depends on so many things… the air; the soil; the collection and storage of them; the filtration between their collection and their entry to the ionizer.

Then let's take the next step, even closer to home... Your pipes.

Believe it or not, the type and age of the water pipes in your home can also have an impact on ‘what is in’ your Kangen Water™. Are your pipes plastic or copper? How old are they?

All these variations of source water mean that, unless you have tested that exact water, we can not tell you what is in Kangen Water™.

This then leads on to another common question…

‘Why is Kangen Water™ not approved by the TGA/FDA/any other food and drink regulatory body?’

This is simply because of the same reason we can not tell you exactly what is in Kangen Water™… it changes depending on the source water.

Food and drink regulatory bodies look at the ingredients. They monitor how much of each thing is in that particular food or drink product and make a judgment based on that. If you haven’t learnt already in this article, Kangen Water™ is not uniform. Enagic® or a distributor cannot give these bodies a list of ‘ingredients’ that are in Kangen Water™ so that they can approve it.

And as yet, those organisations do not have a ‘category’ that a water ionizer would fit into.

The certificates and approvals that ionizers do fit into, Enagic® has achieved. The most prestigious and appropriate is the Gold Seal Certificate from the Water Quality Association. This association is a non-for-profit that is dedicated to ensuring the quality of drinking water and devices related to drinking water.

If you would like to find out more about the certificates and approvals that Enagic® DO have, click HERE.

Kangen Water™ is an incredible and unique product. The water itself has a great reputation throughout those who have been privileged enough to experience it… but each pour of Kangen Water™ is different thanks to its source water.

If you’re really concerned about what ‘is in’ your Kangen Water™ then I would suggest that you get YOUR water tested and then look into pre-filtration options… But if not just enjoy the benefits of the ionizer you have in your home.

Posted on  19/05/2022 13:18 Hi, I love my K8 but wasn't expecting to lose water out of the bottom pipe everytime I use it. We use rain water so every drop is precious. Can this water be used safely?
